Why your Facebook ads get lots of clicks but no orders
Your Meta dashboard shows 800 clicks. But WhatsApp is quiet, and you’ve spent RM500. Most owners’ first reaction is “the ad isn’t working, let’s raise the budget.” That’s usually a mistake. The ad did its job: it brought people. What failed is where you sent them.
If your ads get clicks but no orders, the problem is usually after the click: a slow page, sending people to an Instagram profile or homepage, an ad that promises something the page doesn’t show, no price, too many steps to contact you, or no tracking, so Meta doesn’t know who actually buys. The fix: one offer, one page, one WhatsApp button.
1. You send people to your Instagram profile
Someone taps a “Raya Promo 30% off” ad and lands on an Instagram grid with 200 posts. They have to find the promo post themselves, then look for the price in the comments, then DM you and wait. Most people stop at the first step.
How to fix it: send the ad to a page that shows that exact offer straight away, with the price and a WhatsApp button.
2. You send people to your homepage
A homepage talks about everything: company history, ten services, latest news. Someone who clicked an ad for one offer doesn’t want to hunt for it in a menu.
How to fix it: give every campaign its own page that repeats the promise in the ad. We explain the difference in landing page vs full website.
3. The page is too slow
Most Facebook and Instagram ad clicks come from phones, often on mobile data, and open inside the app’s own browser. If the page takes too long, people tap “back” and carry on scrolling.
How to check: in Ads Manager, compare Link clicks with Landing page views. Link clicks count everyone who tapped; landing page views only count those who waited for the page to load. If 800 clicks became only 300 landing page views, more than half your budget was lost before anyone saw anything. Test your page on PageSpeed Insights too.
4. The ad says one thing, the page another
The ad says “Aircond servicing RM80”. The page says “Contact us for a quote”. People feel misled and leave.
How to fix it: the page headline should repeat the same words, price and images as the ad, so people know straight away they’re in the right place.
5. No price, no proof
Visitors from ads don’t know you. Before they contact you, they need two things: how much it costs, and proof that other people were happy.
- Show the price or a starting price, like “from RM80”.
- Show real Google reviews and photos of your work, close to the WhatsApp button.
- Answer common questions: areas covered, how long it takes, payment options.
6. Too many steps to contact you
An 8-field form, a phone number they have to copy, or a button hidden at the bottom. Every extra step is another chance to change their mind.
How to fix it: one WhatsApp button with a pre-filled message, repeated after each section, plus a sticky button at the bottom of the phone screen. Read why in why a WhatsApp button beats a contact form.
7. Meta doesn’t know who buys
If your campaign objective is “Traffic”, Meta will find people who like clicking, not people who like buying. And without tracking, it can’t tell the difference.
- Install the Meta Pixel on your landing page.
- Track WhatsApp button clicks as an event, so Meta learns who actually contacts you.
- Choose a campaign objective that matches your goal, like Leads or Sales, not just Traffic.
The formula: 1 offer, 1 page, 1 WhatsApp button
For small businesses, the simplest and cheapest formula is:
- One clear offer, like “Raya catering packages from RM15 per person”.
- One page that repeats the offer, with the price, real photos, reviews and FAQs.
- One WhatsApp button with a pre-filled message, plus tracking so you know which ad brought the message.
What about Click-to-WhatsApp ads? Ads that open WhatsApp directly can work well for simple, low-cost offers. But for services that need explanation or proof, a landing page usually brings more serious enquiries, and fewer “how much ah?” messages that never reply. Many businesses test both.
Your ads are running, but your page isn’t helping?

Frequently asked questions
Why do my ads get lots of clicks but no messages?
Usually the problem isn’t the ad but where it sends people: a slow page, an Instagram profile, a general homepage, or a page with no price and no clear WhatsApp button.
What’s the difference between “link clicks” and “landing page views”?
Link clicks count everyone who taps the ad. Landing page views only count people who waited for your page to finish loading. A big gap between the two usually means your page is too slow.
Should I just use Click-to-WhatsApp ads?
For simple, low-cost offers, ads that open WhatsApp directly can work well. For services that need explanation, prices or proof like reviews, a landing page usually brings better-quality enquiries.
Do I need the Meta Pixel?
Yes. Without the Pixel, Meta doesn’t know who actually contacted you, so it can’t find more people like them. Install the Pixel and track WhatsApp button clicks as an event.
How much does a landing page for ads cost?
At Shiok Digital, a landing page costs RM850, one fixed price, with WhatsApp buttons and tracking ready for your ads.
